What is Silestone? How to Clean Silestone Counter-Tops and Surfaces in Your Kitchen?

How to clean Silestone worktops

Silestone is a composite material made up of 94% quartz and is manufactured from natural quartz bound with resin. The Silestone brand is among the leading products in the quartz market and is versatile enough to suit almost anyone’s tastes. Silestone worktops come with a bacteriostatic protection system which lasts for the entire duration of the worktop and allows it to retain its good-as-new quality long after it is first purchased. They have a non-porous surface, which makes it resistant to all but the extreme toughest of stains. It is scratch resistant and it can also comfortably absorb heavy impacts which would damage many other worktops. Never place boiling hot crockery directly on top of a Silestone worktop. Always use a pot stand, trivet or chopping board between the pot/dish and the quartz top. Silestone requires minimal maintenance and also comes in a wide variety of colours and finishes, allowing you to combine durable quality and visual elegance. Although Silestone is resistant to almost any common domestic stain, it is not invulnerable and stubborn stains can leave an imprint on your worktop if they are left for a long time without cleaning. In the manufacturers’ guide to cleaning and maintaining Silestone worktops, they endorse a product named Q-Action, or alternatively water and mild/neutral soap. Grease stains can be cleaned by applying Q-Action, leaving for 2 minutes and scrubbing gently with a scouring pad. For limescale stains, apply an anti-limescale product to the affected area and, after 1-2 minutes, rinse with water. Silicone marks should be eradicated when the worktop is installed, but in the event of such marks still being visible after installation, you can treat them by gently applying a silicone remover using a blunt spatula. Products which should never be used for cleaning Silestone worktops include abrasive cleaners, polish, metallic scouring pads, paint strippers and caustic soda.Silestone is a composite material made up of 94% quartz and is manufactured from natural quartz bound with resin.
